Obituary of Walter E. Jackson

ELGIN – Funeral service for Walter Eddie Jackson, 84, will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jerry Lewis will officiate. Serving as active pallbearers will be Johnny Williams, Wally Jackson, B.J. Jackson, Ryan Jackson, Jack Perry and T.J. Bowen and honorary pallbearer, Travis Truesdale. The family will receive friends Saturday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Union Baptist Church, PO Box 116, Elgin, S.C. 29045. Mr. Jackson, husband of the late Thalia Faye Windham Jackson, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Jasper Alexander and Mary Frost Jackson. He served in the United States Navy and retired from logging after a lifelong career. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Surviving are his sons, Van Jackson of Elgin, Butch Jackson (Debra) of Elgin, and Cary Jackson (Sheran) of Elgin; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a son, Robin Jackson; brothers, Henry Frost and James Jackson; and sisters, Margaret Bowen.
