Obituary of Ella Mae Gaylord Cashwell
ELGIN- Ella Mae Cashwell was born on October 9, 1935 in Sumter, South Carolina to Mack Madison and Cora Mae Gaylord. She is survived by her brothers, Leroy Gaylord and Gerald (Cathy) Gaylord. She graduated high school from Holmes College of the Bible in 1953.
Ella married George Clifton Cashwell in 1955 and spent the next 62 years as a pastor's wife in the Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a wonderful wife to George, a devoted mother to Philip, Charles, Karen and James. A devoted grandmother to Renata, Audrey, Stefan, Clifton, Jordan, Lauren and Austin. A proud great-grandmother to Matthew, Philip, Emily, Ella, Jude and Oliver. She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. George Cashwell; and brothers, Leon “Junior”, Mack “Bubba”, Carl Henry, and Jessie Gaylord.
Ella was a warm and gracious hostess to the many guests who had the privilege of staying in her home through the years. She was a true friend to the many parishioners whom she and George had the honor of serving throughout their ministry.
Her children loved her for the tenderness and gracefulness that was shown to them throughout their lives. They also loved her for her homemade biscuits!
Most importantly, Ella loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in whom she put her confidence. She has now heard the words “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.”
A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Highway Pentecostal Holiness Church Missions Fund.
