LUGOFF - Funeral service for James Elijah Cooper, 66, will be held Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Lugoff Christian Ministries. Burial will be held at 4:00 p.m. in Kingstree Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday 7-9 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Lugoff Christian Ministries. Mr. Cooper died Tuesday, February 13, 2007. Born in Georgetown, he was the son of the late Daniel Ralston and Isalene Bednego Cooper. He attended Georgetown Schools. He retired from DuPont after 28 years and was currently a truck driver at Prestage Farms. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Lugoff Christian Ministries. Also, he was a member of Lugoff Masonic Lodge #411. Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Vivian Gause Cooper; children, Darron (Sheri) Cooper, Jason D. Cooper, Donnie (Lee) McElveen, Steve (Jennifer) McElveen, Delice Mallard; brothers, David Cooper, Daniel Cooper, and Elisha Cooper; sisters, Mildred Lambert, Clara Mae Cooper, Bell Lee, Doris Gause, and Mary Ann Akerman; grandchildren, Bobby, Courtney, and Savannah Cooper, Joseph, Christopher, Tyler, Seth and Owen McElveen, Nicole Cooper, Will and Matthew Mallard; 3 great-grandchildren; and special family friends, Steve Hough and Wayne Watkins.
