GASTON- Memorial Service for Jack Ernest Cannon, 64, formerly of Camden, will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The Rev. Richard Cameron will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105. Mr. Cannon died Thursday, October 30, 2008. Born in Tampa, Fla., he was a son of the late William A. Cannon, Sr. and Dale McCoy Mattis. He served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Noah. He retired from Fluor Daniel. He was a member of the American Legion Post 195 and was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening. Surviving are his wife, Eileen H. Cannon; brothers, William A. (Venita) Cannon, Jr. of Columbia, and Chester M. (Marianne) Cannon, Sr. of Camden; sister, Carlotta C. Daniels of Columbia; step brothers, Weat (Katherine) Mattis, Jr. of Charlotte, N.C., and John (Vickie) Mattis of Lugoff; step sisters, Melody (Glen) Mosure of St. Louis, Mo., and Victoria (Franco) Corona of Houston, Texas; and 4 nieces and 2 nephews.
