LUGOFF – Services for Larry M. Capell, 73, will be held at 2:00 pm with a visitation 1hr prior on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Springvale Baptist Church. The Rev. Todd Horton will officiate. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Springvale Baptist Church building fund. Larry passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018. He was born on August 29, 1944 in Lee County to Johnnie and Letha Williams Capell. Larry graduated from Maywood High School in Sumter County. He retired from Dupont after 27 years of employment. Larry also retired from the S.C. Board of Special Needs after 10 years of service. He loved hunting, fishing, golf and sports; especially the Gamecocks. He coached youth baseball and football in the Kershaw County Recreation Department for over a decade. Larry also served as the Athletic Booster Club President at LE High School and coached football at LE Middle School. Larry is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sheila Roberts Capell; son, Scott Capell and his wife, Jennifer Davidson Capell; grandchildren, Garrett and Ashlynn Capell; sisters, Nancy Amerson of Sumter and Sue Garvin of Georgetown; brother, Donald Capell of Lugoff. He was predeceased by his sisters, June Mathis and Mary Wescott. The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice Care for all their support and care given to Larry and his family during his illness.
