Obituary of Jeffery Richardson

Funeral service for Jeffery Allen Richardson, 59, will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Brother Jeffery Allen Richardson, son of Carolyn D. Richardson and James T. Wood, born July 13, 1958 in Lugoff, South Carolina entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at The Veterans Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina. Jeffery accepted Christ at a very early age and joined Bethlehem Baptist Church where he continued to work faithfully and diligently until his passing. He was a dedicated and devoted servant in many capacities such as; Trustee Ministry, Brotherhood Ministry, member of the male and BMBC choirs, introduced and taught a special Counseling Ministry for Narcotics Anonymous weekly, Bus Ministry, Church Security, financial counting team and Veterans ministry. Jeffery was also a member of the Free & Accepted Masons organization. He received his education in the Kershaw county public schools. After graduating from Lugoff-Elgin High School in 1976, Jeffery decided to join the military where he served in 1st Infantry Division and 1st Army Division until he was honorably discharged in 1983. Upon leaving the military, Jeffery relocated to New York where he received a degree from Dutchess Community College. Jeffery was formerly employed as a Chemical Dependency counselor at The Children’s Village and Arms Acres Rehabilitation & Detox Center and Medically Retired Center while in New York. Jeffery was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Richardson and his maternal grandparents, Evelyn Brown Richardson and Wilson Richardson, Sr. Those left to rejoice in his fond memories are his father James T. Woods of Brooklyn, New York, one daughter Shontay Lashay Richardson of San Diego, California, three sons Antwan Maurice Richardson of Dobbs Ferry, NY, Keon Lamar Gibson of Orlando, FL, Jeffery Jamal Rashard Gibson of Danbury, CT, five grandchildren Kyloni, Elijah, Janeia, Brianna and Antwan Gibson, one brother, James Dixon of Elgin, S.C., two special cousins Terry and Ricky Green, two uncles, Grover (Mary) Richardson, Larry (Florie) Richardson, one aunt Loretta Richardson all of Lugoff, S.C. and a host of cousins, other family members and friends. Jeffery will truly be missed by his family and friends.
