LUGOFF – A celebration of life service for Ted Gordon Norris, 70, will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. at St. John United Methodist Church. The Rev. John Mims will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John United Methodist Church or the Wounded Warrior Project. Mr. Norris died Monday, March 25, 2013. Born in Hopewell, VA, he grew up in Ayden, N.C. and was the son of Hazel Bowen Norris, and the late Tom Norris. Mr. Norris was a graduate of North Carolina State University and retired from Dupont after 35 years as a textile engineer. He was a member of St John United Methodist Church where he was very involved, especially in the Food Pantry and United Methodist Men. He enjoyed spending time with his family and hobbies such as woodworking. Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Patricia “Pat” Brown Norris; mother, Hazel Bowen Norris of Ayden, N.C.; daughters, Dawn Jeffer of Morrisville, N.C., Virginia Norris of Ballentine, S.C.; sons, Neal Swartzmiller (Monica) of Katy, TX, Matt Swartzmiller of Greenville, S.C., William Bryan Norris (Rebecca) of Columbia, S.C.; brother, Billy Norris (Andrea) of Ayden, N.C.; and grandchildren, Claire and Gabriel Jeffer, Aiden, Alex and Luke Swartzmiller, Will and James Norris. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Olivia Swartzmiller.
