COLUMBIA – A graveside service for David Wayne Powell, 59, will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Rev. Philip Blankenship will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Mr. Powell died on Monday, February 19, 2018. Born in Harriman, Tenn., he was the son of Wanda Faye Haag Powell and the late Charles Edward Powell. He was an Army Veteran as well as a Master Carpenter and Master Mil Wright. He enjoyed traveling while working for many different companies across the United States. Surviving are his Mother, Wanda Powell of Elgin; sons, Charles Robert “Robbie” Powell (Dee) of Elgin, Christopher “Chris” Powell of Little Mountain, S.C., and Jonathan “Jon” Powell of Elgin; brothers, Mark Powell (Kim) of Senoia, GA and Michael "Mike" Powell of Elgin; sister, Diann Seville of Elgin; and 7 grandchildren.
