BETHUNE - Funeral service for Bessie A. Baker, 92, will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff, with burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Bethune. Rev. Frank Davis will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Palmetto Health Hospice, Columbia, S.C. Mrs. Baker, wife of the late Lewis Minor Baker, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008. Born in Bethune, she was the daughter of the late Patois Blackwell and Ada Waters Blackwell. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Bethune. She enjoyed gardening. Surviving are her children, Glenda (Frank) Davis of Fayetteville, N.C., Annette Gay of Cassatt, and Stanley (Virginia) Baker of Cassatt; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sons, George Baker, Minor Baker, and Clark Baker; and daughter, Ruth Peters.
