LUGOFF - Memorial service for OL Clifton Sample, 74, will be held Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Worship Center. Rev. Donald Goude will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Mr. Sample died Monday, October 13, 2008. Born in Exmore, Va., he was a son of the late Briston Sample and Georgia Sarah Blackstone Sample. He retired from The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Daily News where he was a Service Manager. Mr. Sample was a member of Bethel Worship Center and was an avid golfer and sportsman. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Shirley Sample; children, Melvin (Denise) Singleton of Willingboro, N.J., Kyle (Judy) Sample of Philadelphia, Pa., Valerie Sample (Steven) Amster of Philadelphia, Pa., and Ivan (Kim) Sample of Philadelphia, Pa.; brother, Gregory Christian of Maryland and Briston Argen Sample of Indiana; sisters, Gladys (Gazel) James of Belle Haven, Virginia, Vivian James of Locust Grove, Georgia, Stella Satchell of Baltimore, Md., and Eva (Jerome) McCoy of Baltimore, Md.; and 10 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
