CAMDEN – Funeral service to celebrate the life of Bertha Johnson “Grandma Monkey” Alexander, 83, will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Good Hope Wesley Chapel UMC Cemetery. Pastor David Williams will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Alexander, wife of the late George Lee Alexander, passed away November 6, 2017. Born in Camden, she was a daughter of the late Vincent Ford and Janie Johnson. Mrs. Alexander was a member of Household of Faith Holiness Church. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Surviving are her children, Mary Johnson of Camden, Moses R. Lee of Cassatt, Carolyn Johnson of Columbia, Richard Johnson (Regina Ponds) of Cassatt, George Lee of Greensboro, N.C., Bertha Annette Lee of Cassatt, Theresa Lee of Camden; step-son, Randolph Allen of Camden; siblings, Andrew Ford (Cheryl), Willie Ford, James Ford, Willie English, Marie Ford, Edna Ford-Roberts; an aunt, Sadie Johnson; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
