LUGOFF - Funeral service for Wade J. Small, Jr., 89, will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe, N.C., on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. The Reverend Barbee O. Parsons will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Gideon’s International, P.O Box 664, Lugoff, S.C. 29078. Mr. Small died Saturday, October 4, 2008. Born in Monroe, N.C, he was the son of the late Wade J. Small, Sr. and Ona Baucom Small. He was a graduate of Wingate University and retired from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Camden where he taught Sunday School and was a member of the Adult Bible Class. He was a Gideon for over 40 years. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Marie T. Small; sons, Wade J. Small, III, and his wife, Roonie of Lexington, and Oderra Small and his wife, Julie of Columbia; daughter, Emily Wiseman and her husband, Eddie of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Mickey Sutton of Pageland; and grandchildren, Lauren Ballew, Allyson Small, Lucy Hammond, Griff Williams, Gaven Small, Corbin Small, Logan Small, Elizabeth Wiseman, and Nicholas Wiseman.
