Obituary of Thomas Clonts
LUGOFF – A service to celebrate the life of Thomas Michael Clonts, 75, will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church in Camden, SC. The Rev. Steve Patterson and the Rev. David Weaver will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center. Memorials may be made to Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church’s Sacks of Love program or their music department.
Mr. Clonts passed away at home on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. Son of the late Thomas Branson and Katharyn Orr Clonts, he was born in Atlanta and grew up in Jonesboro, GA. He received both Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Georgia. His most valued accomplishments in his forestry career were establishing a hardwood forestry program in Costa Rica and expanding the Land Owner Assistance Program for Stone Container Corporation.
Mr. Clonts was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday School for the Friendship Class and worked with the Salkehatchie and Sacks of Love missions. He enjoyed tennis, music, reading, travel, and especially time with family.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Daphne Clonts; daughters, Kim Powell (Mark) of Peachtree City, GA, and Kathy Sorenson (Don) of Summerville, SC; brothers, Ken Clonts (Jackie) of Cumming, GA and Don Clonts (Mary) of Jonesboro, GA; and grandchildren, Alex Duffield, Julia Sorenson, Emily Powell, and Lydia Powell.
