BLYTHEWOOD – A graveside service for Janice Britt Melvin, 82, will be held Thursday at 11am at Memorial Gardens of Columbia. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8pm at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Ms. Melvin passed away August 6, 2017. Born in Wilmington, NC, on September 2, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Milton James and Addie Estell Cotton Britt. She was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening. Surviving are her children, Don Melvin, Gemma Null, and Kenion (Angie) Melvin; grandchildren, Garrett Melvin, Caroline Melvin, Mandy Null, Glenn (Leslie) Null, and Britt Broadway; great-grandchildren, Parker Null and Braxton Null; siblings, Melrose Boyette, James Britt, and Gerald Britt; special friend, Joann Long. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Melvin; siblings, Curtis Britt, Bobby Britt, and Yvonne Henderson.
