ELGIN – Funeral services for Sara Sumner Register, 84, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 35 Chestnut Ferry Rd in Camden. Burial will follow the service in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens in Elgin. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital in Columbia, SC. Mrs. Register passed away July 18, 2017. Born in Chesterfield County, SC, on January 25, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Sumner and Bertha Lee King Sumner. She married the late Jim Register on October 16, 1954. They renewed their vows at the Temple in Switzerland. Surviving are her children, Barbara Sloan, Al (Helen) Register, and Fran (Ronnie) Hargrave; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 6 great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her grandson, Jonathan Lynch and son-in-law, Bruce Sloan.
