CAMDEN- Funeral services for John Richard Young, 85, will be held Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at Dekalb Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Keith Coates will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dekalb Baptist Church, 2034 Dekalb School Rd, Camden, S.C. 29020. Mr. Young, husband of the late Annie Ruth Young, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017. Born in Camden, he was a son of the late Furman Eugene Young, Sr. and Louise Owens Young. Mr. Young retired from DuPont and was a member of Dekalb Baptist Church. He enjoyed doing mechanical work and gardening. Surviving are his sons, Richard D. Young of Camden and John “Doug” Young of Camden; daughter, Crystal Copley (Chris) of Camden; a brother, Furman Eugene Young, Jr. (Joan) of Kershaw; sisters, Earlene Jones (Johnnie) of Camden, Margie Branham of Rock Hill; and grandchildren, Carrie Copley, Caleb Copley and Ryan Young. He was predeceased by a brother, Douglas Young.
