LUGOFF – Funeral service for Betty Lee Coates Hinson, 81, will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Columbia, S.C. The Rev. Brian Ogburn will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday 12:30-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at Becky Williams Residence 62 Riding Ridge Rd., Elgin SC. Memorials may be made to the American Stroke Foundation. Mrs. Hinson died Wednesday, March 06, 2013. Born in Charleston, W.V., she was the daughter of the late Julius Simon and Thelma Kessell Asbury. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family and actively supported Relay for Life. Surviving are her husband, Charlie Hinson; son, L. David Coates of Lugoff; daughters, Becky Williams (David) of Elgin and Terry Free (Larry) of Mt. Pleasant; and grandchildren, Maggie Coates, Michael Coates, Brad Williams, Stephanie Williams, Sally Free and Mary Lee Free. She was predeceased by her first husband, Samuel Lee Coates; and brother, Louis Simon.
