ELGIN – Funeral services for 1st SGT (RET) Tyrone David Haigh, 68, will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial and military honors to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Rev. Ken Jackson will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Special Olympics or Hillcrest Baptist Church. Mr. Haigh passed away Saturday, June 03, 2017. Born in Florence, he was a son of the late Charles David Haigh and Dorothy Louise Hewitt Haigh. Mr. Haigh retired from the U.S. Army after 16 years of service. He was a member of the America Legion Post 130, DAV, and the 40 & 8. He enjoyed fishing and being surrounded by his family. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Gwen Esther Drew Haigh; sons, Matthew T. Haigh (Aaron Colegrove) of Columbia, Benjamin L. Haigh (Donna) of Columbia, Drew A. Haigh (Ashly) of Lugoff; a sister, Carmen Campbell (David); grandchildren, Preston, Lakyn, Jacob and Harrison Haigh; a sister-in-law, Fran Haigh; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Charles A. Haigh, George C. Haigh; and a sister, Kay L. Haigh.
