ELGIN – A funeral service for Therman Eugene “Gene” Harrelson, 76, will be held Sunday at 2pm at International Praise Church of God in Elgin, with burial to follow in Bethel UMC Cemetery, Harleyville. Rev. Doyle Roberts and Rev. Mike Moore will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-7pm at Powers Funeral Home. Mr. Harrelson went home to be with his Lord on May 26, 2017. Born in Pensacola, FL, on December 22, 1940, he was the son of Grace Harrelson the late Thornie Harrelson. He was a member of International Praise Church of God. He enjoyed bass fishing, golf, drag racing, shagging, and was an avid Gamecock fan. Surviving are his wife, Marcia P. Harrelson; mother, Grace Harrelson of N. Charleston; children, Michael E. (Mia) Harrelson of Elgin, David Allen (Tisha) Harrelson of Sumter, and Natalie Marie Harrelson of Camden; grandchildren, Jessica (Shane) Dorr, Christeanna (Nick) Garrett, Victoria Kelly, Sara Kelly, Baileigh Harrelson, Callen Harrelson, Dawson Harrelson, and Keaton Harrelson; brothers, Thomas E. (Sandra) Harrelson and Paul H. (Ethel) Harrelson; and sister, Maria Lynn (Jason) Field.
