Obituary of Victoria L. McElveen

LUGOFF- Funeral services for Victoria Leigh McElveen, 23, will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The Rev. Matt Galloway and the Rev. Dean Reynolds will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Myers-Theil Pet Adoption Center, Camden, S.C. Victoria passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of Samuel R. “Sam” and Donna Dillard McElveen. Victoria was a member of Sawney’s Creek Baptist Church. She also attended services at Friendship Baptist Church. Victoria received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal and Veterinary Sciences in 2016 from Clemson University and was employed with Prestage Farms. She enjoyed hiking, fishing, and horseback riding, and loved animals and being outdoors. Surviving are her parents, Samuel “Sam” and Donna McElveen of Lugoff; sisters, Rachael and Isabella McElveen both of Lugoff; paternal grandmother, Clara McElveen of Bishopville; maternal grandfather, Carl Dillard of Columbia; aunts and uncles, Linda and Joe Pinkston III of Columbia, Deborah and Bryan Jenerette of Lugoff, Susan and Michael Hamilton of Columbia; and 4 cousins, Joseph Pinkston IV, Carl Pinkston, Allen Jenerette, and Noah Jenerette. She was predeceased by paternal grandfather, Legrand McElveen; maternal grandmother, Barbara Dillard, uncle, Tim McElveen; and an aunt, Sandy Dillard.
