LUGOFF – Richard Donald “Don” Huggins passed away at his home in Lugoff on March 25, 2017. He was born in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, on February 28, 1953, and was the son of Jesse Capers Huggins, Jr., Commander, Ret., and Anne Browning Huggins, both deceased. Don lived in several cities growing up due to his father’s Naval career, but considered the Columbia, South Carolina area home. Don graduated from Spring Valley High School in Columbia and attended the University of South Carolina. He worked in the restaurant industry for most of his career, and recently retired from SEFA Group. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, college sports, and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving is his wife of forty-two years, Janet Almond Huggins. Don’s children include his daughter Jessica Huggins of Lugoff, son Donald Huggins of Lugoff, and son Christopher Celiz (Katie) of Savannah, Georgia. His grandchildren are Brenna Huggins, Holden Capers Huggins, Ella Grae Huggins, and Shannon Celiz. Brothers and sisters are Kathryn Huggins Taylor (Ed) of Cumming, Georgia; Jesse Capers Huggins III (Darlene) of Belton, South Carolina; Wyatt Browning Huggins (Karin) of Ft. Pierce, Florida; and twin sister Donna Marie Huggins Affronti (Alex) of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Don is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A private memorial gathering was held by the family on Saturday, April 1.
