COLUMBIA – Funeral services for Marilyn C. Hernandez, 60, will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Hardshell Cemetery. The Rev. Wayne Flowers will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Ms. Hernandez passed away Friday, March 31, 2017. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Foster Otto Powell and Patricia Ann Barnhart Powell. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt and nana. She loved spending time with her family. Her grandchildren made her the happiest in life and she enjoyed teaching them new things. The bond she had with her grandbabies which she called her “NanaBabies” will live on forever. Mrs. Hernandez put others before herself at all times and she touched the lives of every family member in her own special way. She was the most kind hearted, loving person that anyone would love to have in their life. Surviving are her son, Joey Hernandez (Jessica) of Lugoff; daughter, Rebecca “Becky” Hernandez (Andre Porter) of Columbia; brothers, Robert Powell (Jackie) of Lugoff and Benny Powell of Columbia; sisters, Barbara Hernandez (Rafael) of Chicago, Ill. and Sheila O’Neal (Jerald) of Hartsville; and 4 grandchildren, Alex (15), Kaylee (6), Gage (5) and Jayden (22 months) Hernandez. She was predeceased by a brother, Johnny Powell.
