LUGOFF – Service for Roy Wallace Harvey, 89, formerly of Erwin, Tenn., will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crossnore School and Children’s Home, 100 DAR Drive, Crossnore, N.C. 28616. Mr. Harvey passed away at home on Sunday, March 12, 2017. Born in Erwin, Tenn., he was the son of the late Roy Charles and Carrie Isabel Leach Harvey. He served in the United States Navy and retired from Union Carbide where he worked in the Laboratory. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Ruritan Club. Mr. Harvey was a beekeeper, farmer and enjoyed playing golf. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Hazel Lee Rice Harvey; daughters, Sharon Hewins of Lugoff and Donna Leigh Dixon (Carl Douglas) of Lugoff; son, Craig Wesley Harvey (Rose) of Lugoff; brother, Jim Harvey; grandchildren, Greg Anderson, Gabe Anderson, Meighan Hammett, Gretchen Collingwood, Kelly Alkhatib, Bryan Hewins, and Savannah Harvey; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Lois Aynne Anderson; son-in-law, John Albert Ham, III; and sisters, Kathleen Harrison and Joyce Hatcher; and brothers, William Harvey and Joe Harvey.
