BETHUNE – Funeral services for Evelyn Hall Swygert, 94, will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Bethune Baptist Church, with burial to follow in Sandy Grove UMC Cemetery. The Rev. Steven Pace will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethune Baptist Church at P.O. Box 326, Bethune, SC 29009. Mrs. Swygert, wife of the late Joseph Swygert, died Wednesday, March 08, 2017. She was born in Sumter County on November 6, 1922 to the late Harrison Reese and Edna Baker Hall, but grew up in Kershaw County. Mrs. Swygert was a member of Bethune Baptist Church and the Trailblazers Sunday School Class. She retired from Camden A&P and the Bethune Kendall Plant. Surviving are her daughter, Evelyn S. Russell (Robert) of Andover, CT; son, Joseph Andrew Swygert (Nancy) of Peachtree City, GA; granddaughters; Kimberlee Swygert and Carey Sparks; great-grandchildren, Mark Aaron, Chris Sparks, Lori Clay; great-great grandchildren, Zane and Alexis Clay; 3 step-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-great grandson. She was predeceased by brothers, R. Baker Hall, Harold T. Hall, Frank C. Hall, Raymond Hall; and a step-daughter, Nancy Jo Johnson.
