LUGOFF – Funeral services for Floyd Hinson, 85, will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at El Bethel Faith Community Church, with burial to follow in Centerville Cemetery. The Rev. Joe Stines and the Rev. Billy Hughes will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society. Mr. Hinson, husband of the late Geneva Ray Hinson, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017. Born in Kershaw County, he was a son of the late Charlie and Sallie Hinson. Mr. Hinson was a member of El Bethel Faith Community Church. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, and collecting model cars. Surviving are his daughter, Linda Horton (Douglas) of Lugoff; son, Dean Hinson (Tracy) of Liberty; siblings, Emily Canady of Lugoff, Jewel Havice of Seneca, Bertha Reynolds (Buddy) of Lugoff, Thomas Hinson (Mildred) of Winnsboro; Bobby Hinson (Kay) of Ridgeway, El Dora Poeta of Lugoff; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Ruth Baker. He was predeceased by his first wife, Martha Hinson; daughter, Patricia “Patty” Peterson; and sisters, Betty Ray and Mary Ellen Jackson.
