Obituary of Anna Moore Chason

ELGIN – A Celebration of Life Service for Anna M. Chason, 74, will be held Sunday, January 15, 2017 from 3-5 p.m. at John Paul’s Hair Salon, 10809 Two Notch Rd, Elgin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blaney-Elgin Museum and Historical Society PO Box 908 Elgin, SC 29045 or the Kershaw County Master Gardeners. Ms. Chason passed away January 4, 2017. Born in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada on August 15, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Fredric and Eileen Patricia Farr Willick. Anna was a proud naturalized citizen. At the age of 16 she knew that America was the greatest country in the world and this is where she wanted to make a difference. She worked as a paralegal for many years, then began conscientiously selling real estate for 12 years, determined to help people find a place they could call home. Later she became a Sales Representative for Proctor and Gamble knowing every year that Special Olympics was the most important event that she had the privilege of getting the store ready for. Everything she did, she did with everything she had. So, it was no surprise that when she retired from P&G, that she went on to become a Certified Master Gardener with Kershaw County Master Gardeners. She loved Kershaw County and the little town of Elgin so much that she teamed up with her cohorts to beautify her quaint little town. When you drive by the Elgin Clock, “make sure you wave” she would say because that was just one of the projects that she helped come to fruition. The last project that she was vice-president of was the Blaney-Elgin Museum and Historical Society. No one would have ever accused her of being a wallflower! The essence of a strong woman. A true friend to man. Every meal she ate was the best she ever had, every moon she saw over the horizon was the most beautiful she had ever seen. There aren’t enough descriptive words that can be used to describe how she changed the world, one handshake, one smile, and one letter at a time. Surviving are her daughters, Tamara A. Jones and Paula C. (Johnny) Berends; grandchildren, Shamene Jones, Angelena Jones, Albin Chason, Robbie Berends, and Will Berends; great-grandchildren, Ayden Jones and Jayden Singletary; sister, Linda Anthony; nephews, Wade Anthony and Trent Anthony; great niece, Alexis Anthony. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Edward Chason.
