Lugoff, S.C. ---(Thelma) Irene Atha Pritchard, 88, died February 15 at the Karesh Long Term Care Center, Camden, S.C. Born February 2, 1925 in Bridgeport, West Virginia Mrs. Pritchard was the youngest born of ten children to the late Homer E. and Julia Almeda Anderson Atha. She graduated from West Virginia Business College, Clarksburg, WV, worked five years as secretary to vice president at James and Law, Inc; and retired after 25 years service in 1989 as a secretary at the Willingboro, NJ Board of Education. Mr. and Mrs. Pritchard, upon retirement, moved to Spring Hill, Florida and then relocated to Lugoff in 2006, where she enjoyed most her association with Harvest Baptist Church. In her lifetime she enjoyed activities which involved her family; and never wanted to miss the annual Atha family reunions in WV. She lovingly supported her husband in all his interests and projects: home repair work, politics, sailing, flower and vegetable gardening, and carving birds. She was a tirelessly devoted wife, beloved sister, mother, and grandmother. A funeral service will be held at Harvest Baptist Church in Lugoff, SC on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at 6:00 p.m., with Pastor Bill Dulaney officiating.. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Bridgeport, WV. Mrs. Pritchard was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Richard Wade Pritchard on September 19, 2012. Surviving are her four children: daughter Almeda Jane and husband Stephen L. Ruger of Rock Hill; son Richard and wife Carol of Burlington, NJ; son Mark and wife Diane of Washington Township, NJ; son Luke and wife Kathleen of Burlington Township, NJ; 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is also predeceased by one half sister, four sisters and four brothers. One brother, Eugene (wife Andrea), lives in Kent, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Harvest Baptist Church, 281 Wildwood Drive, Lugoff, SC 29078.
