ELGIN - Service for Mable Elizabeth “Betty” Skipper Marthers, 74, will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The Rev. Jerry Lewis will officiate. The family will receive friend Saturday 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or Palmetto Health Richland Heart Hospital. Mrs. Marthers died Thursday, August 07, 2008. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Charles Wesley and Elizabeth Campbell Skipper. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Charles Victor Marthers; sons, Charles Victor (Mary Jo) Marthers of Lugoff, and George W. (Angie) Marthers of Elgin; daughter, Annette “Penny” (Tommy) Anderson of West Columbia; and grandchildren, Charlene Marthers, Denise Marthers, Leslie Anderson, Mitch Anderson, Johnathan Marthers, and Adriana Marthers. She was predeceased by 1 sister and 5 brothers.
