Obituary of James D. Edge
LUGOFF – Funeral service with military honors for SFC James Dewey Edge, US Army (Ret’d), 83, will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The Rev. Greg Sweet and the Rev. Brian Ogburn will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to KershawHealth Hospice.
Mr. Edge died Thursday, February 14, 2013. Born in Aynor, he was a son of the late Dewey Hobson and Hattie Nina Allen Edge. He retired from the United States Army after 21 years having served in Korea and Vietnam. He was a Mason and attended Spears Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Edge was an outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening. He loved his family and cherished the time spent with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Audrey James Edge; daughters, Nancy Dale Powell of Columbia, Audrey Kim Federow (Bruno) of Colmar, France, and Cherie Nobrega (Joao) of Lugoff; sons, Bob Wade (Jeanne) of Lexington and James D. Edge II (Dawn Glover Patterson) of Lugoff; brother, Charles F. Edge; brother-in-law, Berl Bashor; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Anne Bashor; and sister-in-law, Roma Adele.
