LUGOFF – Funeral service for Mendel Eugene Cassady, 74, will be held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at New Life Christian Outreach Ministry with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Richard Cameron and the Rev. Derrick Proctor will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to New Life Christian Outreach Ministry, 411 US 601, Lugoff, S.C. 29078. Mr. Cassady passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2016. Born in Bethune, he was the son of the late David and Leila Hinson Cassady. He served in the United Sates Navy and was a construction superintendent. He was a member of New Life Christian Outreach Ministry and the American Legion Post 172. Mr. Cassady was an avid Gamecock fan and enjoyed fishing and carpentry. Surviving are his wife, Audrey Robinson Cassady; children, Connie Cassady of Conway, Cathi Campbell (Billy) of Blackstock, S.C., and Gena Long (Jim) of Lugoff; sister, Patricia Cassady of Lugoff; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Jimmy Cassady, Lawson Cassady and Richard Cassady; and sisters, Betty Ann Gardner and Carol Sue Bennett.
