Obituary of Gordon B Moore

CAMDEN - A memorial service for Gordon Baker Moore Sr., 81, will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church. Rev. Sheila Rogers and Rev. David Weaver will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association Mr. Moore died Sunday, August 3, 2008. Born in Hartsville, S.C., he was a son of the late Wesley Preston Moore and Ruth Fields Moore King. He served in the Unites States Merchant Marines during WW II. He received his Bachelors of Science Degree form U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and retired from E.I. DuPont de Nemours where he was an Engineer. He later was a consultant for Chem-Tech Corporation in different parts of the world. Mr. Moore volunteered with the Fine Art Center and was a member of the Golden K. He enjoyed gardening and Stained Glass. He was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gloria Keith Moore; children, Gordon B. Moore Jr. of Camden, Pamela S. Berg of Gilbert, Ariz., Wendy Ziemke of Camden, and Weslynn Hutto of Elgin; brothers, Pete Moore of Darlington, Heyward Moore of Hartsville, S.C., and Ruchie Moore of Florida; sisters, Miriam Newsome of Hartsville, S.C., and Claudia McKenzie of Hartsville, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
