CAMDEN - Melinda Joyce “Joy” Dent, 72, of Camden, S.C. passed from this life on Thursday, October 13, 2016 after complication following cancer surgery. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones. Joy worked in many capacities by far her favorite was a nurse caring for others. She was a life time member of the American Legion Post 17 Ladies’ auxiliary holding many offices including State Auxiliary President. She was preceded in death by daughter, Kimberly; son, Mike; and parents, Jack and Mary David. Joy is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Willis J. Dent; son, David (Paige); sisters, Martha Penrod (Brent) and Mary Jimas (Jim); brother, Robert David (Phyllis); and the love of her life, her grandchildren, Ashley, Breanna, Christopher, Kinsley, Laurel Grace and Blake. Funeral service for Joy will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Camden Ward, with burial to follow in Forest Lawn memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Babcock Center.
