Obituary of D. Steve Beasley

CAMDEN - Funeral service for D. Steve Beasley, 56, will be held Saturday at 11 am at First Baptist Church Camden with burial to follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia. Rev. Bruce Hancock will officiate. The family will receive friends Friday 7 to 9 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. Memorials may be made to the Gideons International. Mr. Beasley died Wednesday, July 30, 2008. Born in Fort Jackson, S.C., he was a son of Frances Boykin Lucas and the late D.L. Beasley. He spent two years in Epworth Children’s Home from Sept 4, 1962 until Sept 6, 1964. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam. Mr. Beasley worked for the former Colonial Store in Camden as the produce manager and recently worked for Al’s Carwash in West Columbia. He was an avid fisherman and loved NASCAR. He attended First Baptist Church, Camden. He is survived by his mother, Frances B. Lucas and her husband, Darby of Bishopville; sister, Kathy (Roy) West of Cassatt; brother, Danny (Mary) Beasley of Lexington; nephew, Travis Beasley of Lexington, Joseph “Jody” Beasley of Lexington, and Todd (Mary) West of Lexington; and niece, Tammy W. (Joe) Burns of Spring Valley.
