John Leonard Isgett, Jr., 79, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016. Born in Birmingham, AL, he was the son of the late John Leonard Isgett, Sr. and Opal Mary Dial Isgett. Mr. Isgett proudly served his country, in the United States Air Force, for over 20 years, including two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion Post 182, Masonic Lodge 411, and the Scottish Rite. Mr. Isgett was a faithful member of St. John United Methodist Church. He volunteered at Tucker Nursing Care Center, and was a voracious reader who also enjoyed gardening and music. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Hisako Aihara Isgett; daughters, Keiko I. Leonard and Junko Matthews; and 4 grandchildren, Lindsay Leonard, Evan Brown, Sone Matthews and Greg Matthews. He was predeceased by sons, John L. Isgett, III and Mark A. Isgett; and sisters, Martha Baldwin, Sarah Overton, and Mary Ogburn. A service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John United Methodist Church.
