LUGOFF – Graveside service for Vera Mae Johnson, 86, will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. in Magnolia Cemetery, Hartsville. The Rev. Dr. Charles Everett will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to KershawHealth Hospice or Cystic Fibrosis. Mrs. Johnson, wife of the late Hubert Johnson passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2016. Born in Hartsville, she was the daughter of the late Luke and Magnolia James Watson. She retired from the Darlington County School District after 28 years of service. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, flowers and gardening. Surviving are nieces and nephews, Debbie and Kevin Wilburn, Craig and Gail Watson, and Donna McAllister; and great nieces and nephews, Michelle and Jason Arruda, Kimberly and Kyle Lund, and Crystal Crowley; many other nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Margie Watson Byrd. She was predeceased by her brother, Luke Watson. The family extends a special thanks to KershawHealth Hospice and Paula Taylor for their loving care of Mrs. Johnson.
