ELGIN – A funeral service for Luther M. Sellers, Jr., 90, will be held Friday, August 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Blaney Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Lawrence Dennis and Rev. Phillip Blankenship will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday at Powers Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Mr. Sellers passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Born in Chesterfield, S.C., he was the son of the late Luther M. Sellers, Sr. and Clara Moore Sellers. He was a member of Blaney Baptist Church and Men's Sunday School class. Mr. Sellers was in the hosiery business for 12 years and retired from DuPont after 19 years. He was an avid hunter. Surviving are his loving wife of 70 years, Aline Cranford Sellers; children, Pamela (Clifford) Cashatt and John (Deneen) Sellers; grandchildren, Jason (Dawn) Cashatt, Jamie (Tiffany) Cashatt, William Sellers, and Matthew Sellers; sisters, Odessa S. Griggs and Ruby S. Morgan; brothers, James T. (Dorothy) Sellers and Donald E. (Carolyn) Sellers; sister-in-law, Miriam Sellers; brother-in-law, Harold J. Cranford. He was predeceased by his siblings, Dorothy S. Tarleton, Murray C. Sellers, William P. Sellers, and Bobby J. Sellers.
