Obituary of Myron B. Corbett
Camden – A memorial service for Myron B. Corbett, Jr., will be held Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeff Richardson will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, Inc., 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047.
Mr. Corbett, known to family and friends as “Whit” or “Jim”, passed away on July 7, 2016, after a prolonged illness. He was born on April 7, 1930 to the late Bernie and Lillie Mae Corbett of Boykin, SC. He joined the US Air Force at the age of 16 and spent the next six years in Japan. He was then stationed at Edwards AFB, California, where he met Emily Bertrand, his wife of 63 years. He retired from the Air Force in 1972, after 26 years of service and returned home to Camden, SC. He then worked at BF Goodrich in Elgin, SC where he retired after 20 years. Among his many pleasures through his life were the fishing trips with friends and family. In their retirement, Jim and Emily always enjoyed traveling, making numerous road trips to California and other destinations, visiting family and friends along the way.
He is survived by his wife Emily; children, Patty (Jeff) Richardson, Holly (Jerry) Bragg, Allison McPherson, Jimmy (Patricia) Corbett; sisters, Geneva (Larry) Makison and Betty Graham. Jim was deeply blessed by 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
