I’m so sorry to find that my old friend David has passed.
We met in 6th grade when, while measuring the length of a school hallway, I attempted to slide his ruler to him and it slid under the door of a classroom. After running back toward our classroom David said that he was afraid of getting in trouble. I told him that there’s no way they would figure out who owns the ruler. He looked at me and said, “My name is written on the back!!!”. We laughed right there and David would bring that up many times over the following years to get us laughing again.
David quickly became my best friend.
David and I fished whenever we had a chance.
We saw the original Star wars 10 times together.
We listened to and memorized many Monty Python skits and would repeat them as shorthand to describe situations we were in.
He was my best friend.
David’s family was always fun and welcoming.
Mrs Jackson (Ruby) made the BEST fried chicken I had ever had and I would, at times, eat dinner at home then walk to David’s house and get fed again!
Walking down to the David’s would at times bring a surprise as to what new “toy” Mr Jackson (Tony) had purchased. Campers, different cars etc. I loved hearing Mr Jackson call out “Hey Hoss!” as I walked up.
David and his family made my growing up in Sherwood Forest so much fun!
Again, I am so sorry that he has passed.
With love to all,
Doug Goodin
