CAMDEN – A Celebration Gathering for Connie Jean Bowers Ray, 69, will be held on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Powers Funeral home, Lugoff. Mrs. Ray died on Saturday, June 18, 2016. Born in Kershaw County, she was the daughter of the late Leo Ross Bowers and Elizabeth Catoe Bowers. She worked for many years at Jubilee. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved being surrounded by her family especially every Sunday for dinner. Surviving are her sons, Edward Hornsby, Jr. (Brandee) of Camden, Bryan Hornsby (Tiffany) of Lugoff, and John T. Hornsby of Camden; grandchildren, Kasie Hornsby, Stefanie Hornsby, Baylee Hornsby, Reese Hornsby, Alex Hornsby, Taylor Thompson and Tucker Hornsby; great-granddaughter, Claire Quarles; her best friend, Copper; and sisters, Ann (Lloyd) Hough of Camden, Mary (Gerald) Collins of Lugoff, and Faye (Glenn) Shaw of Rembert; along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by and now joins her husband, Donald Ray; and grandson, Hunter Hornsby.
