LUGOFF – Funeral service for Stephen Wilson Griggs, Sr., 70, will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Lugoff First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Doug Huntsinger will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday 3-5 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Lugoff First Baptist Church. Mr. Griggs passed away at home surrounded by his family on Friday, June 10, 2016. Born in Darlington County, he was the son of the late Murray Jesse and Lillie Mae Douglas Griggs. He served in the United States Navy and retired from International Paper. Mr. Griggs was a member of Lugoff First Baptist Church. His greatest joy in life was his grandchildren. He was a licensed pilot and served on the civil air patrol and enjoyed fishing. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Judy Dixon Griggs; son, Stephen Wilson Griggs Jr. (Danielle) of Hilton Head and Bradley L. Griggs (Rachel) of Greenwood; brother, Bobby Griggs; sister, Judy Huggins; brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Cheryl Flynn of Columbia; and grandchildren, Christopher Birt, Caroline Griggs, and Lauren Griggs. He was predeceased by a brother, W.L. Griggs; and sisters, Lib Odom and Betty Edwards
