Another benefit funerals provide that helps us heal is that the mark a time to begin mourning. While some people may be able to accept the reality of the death and already begin to mourn before the funeral, others may need a ceremony such as this to have their mind make the connection that this is the new reality. They can then begin the mourning and healing process.
