Obituary of Alice LeGrand

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Alice LeGrand, born on October 9, 1955, in Scharnhausen, Germany. She passed away on September 19, 2026, leaving behind a life rich with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Alice resided in Elgin, South Carolina where she embraced each day with enthusiasm and a spirit that was uniquely hers. 

Alice was a vibrant soul who loved the simple pleasure of feeling sand between her toes and the calming rhythm of ocean waves. She was a proud graduate of Spring Valley High School, Class of 1973. She had an accomplished career as an office manager and was also a cherished House Mother for Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority at the University of South Carolina. Her sunny disposition and nurturing nature made her a beacon of light to the many young women who passed through the Sorority House doors. 

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, James Jeffrey LeGrand-Douglass (Chris) and Jason Christopher LeGrand (Jennifer Marshall); boyfriend, Robert "Bob" Thompson; siblings, Dorothy Hicks, Theresa Guyton, Brenda Torres and Steve Hicks (Laura); grandchildren, J.C LeGrand, Taylor Jeffcoat (Bryce) and Channing LeGrand; and great granddaughter, Braylen Grace Jeffcoat. 

She was predeceased by her parents, James Dewey and Hildegard Josephing Nuding Hicks; and brother-in-law, Oscar Torres.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026 frpm 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Powers Funeral Home in Lugoff, SC.
