Obituary of Catherine Pratt Johnson
Catherine Pratt Johnson, 65, born on October 2, 1960, in Darlington, SC, was a radiant beam of light who spread joy and laughter wherever she went. A devoted member of the Timrod Baptist Church, she carried the spirit of service and generosity in her heart. Those who knew Catherine were well-acquainted with her love for the yard. You could often find her fussing about pine straw in her yard in Bethune, South Carolina, or deeply engrossed in her garden. Employed by Prestige Farms, she poured the same dedication and hard work into her profession as she did her yard. Always a jokester, Catherine's sense of humor brought smiles to many faces and her helping nature made her a cherished figure in her community.
Left to cherish her memories is her son, Michael Johnson (Parker) of Manning, SC; siblings, Sydney Pratt of Morven, NC, Hiram J. Pratt (Linda) of Burnsville, NC, Baxter Pratt of Lilesville, NC and Robert Pratt (Cathy) of Greenville, SC; grandchildren, Allen Johnson of Manning, SC and Jack Johnson of Manning, SC; special nieces, Patricia Crawford of Bethune, SC and Susan Sullivan (Tony) of Bethune, SC; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Henry Baxter Pratt and Julia Catherine Martin Pratt Davis; siblings, Brownie Lee Pratt, Anita Murphy, Marshall Pratt and Glenn Martin (Betty); sister-in-law, Bonnie Jean Pratt; nephew, Phillip Crawford; and her beloved dog, Pebbles.
Her memory will continue to inspire those who were lucky enough to have known her.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Bethune, SC at 2:00 pm. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will take place the following day, Friday, September 4, 2026, at 10:00 am at Shiloh Christian Community Church Cemetery in Morven, NC.
