Obituary of Doris West Rabon

Doris West Rabon, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, at the age of 95. Born in Bethune, SC, on June 16, 1931, to the late Levi and Ruth West, Doris was a lifelong resident of Camden, South Carolina, where she was known for her warm spirit, her love for Christmas, and her beautiful garden.

Doris was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Camden, where she faithfully served her community. She spent many years working as a Sales Associate at Belk and as a caterer for Aberdeen Cateries before her retirement. Those who knew Doris will fondly remember her sitting on her patio, watching the birds, and tending to her garden. Her love for Christmas was infectious, and she had a flair for over-the-top Christmas decorations that brought joy to all who saw them. 

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marvin Rabon; a son, Larry Rabon; and siblings, Hazel West, William West, Billy West and Cleats West. She is survived by her children, Wayne Rabon (Jenny), Wanda Putnam (Neil), and Phil Rabon (Charles); 7 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who will miss her dearly.

The family will receive friends from 10 - 11 am on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at First Baptist Church, 1201 Broad Street, Camden, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am at the same venue. A private burial will take place in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
