Obituary of Robert Larry Adams
Robert Larry Adams, 81, of Bluefield, WV, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026 at MUSC Health Kershaw Medical Center in Camden, SC. One of ten children, He was born December 15, 1944 in Bluefield, WV to the late Forest "Jack" Adams and Elsie Mae Adams.
Robert served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a retired Conductor for Norfolk Western/Norfolk Southern Railroad. He was of the Baptist faith and a man of God. Robert loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. He also enjoyed remodeling his home.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 39 years, Nina Kay Adams; five children, Robin Adams Funderburk (Gerald) of Matthews, NC, Robert F Adams (Michelle), of Stanly, NC, Ramie L Adams of Tazewell, VA, Donna Riley (Johnnie) of Cassatt, SC, Robert Sheets (Rebecca) of Prosperity, SC; ten grandchildren, Zack Combs (Jaime) of Blacksburg, SC, Hunter Adams (Savannah) of Dallas, NC, Sebastian Adams (engaged to Madison Anders) of Dallas, NC, Trever Adams of Stanly, NC, Ryan Adams of Roanoke, VA, Travis Adams (Chyann) of Bluefield, VA, Brandon Prasatek (AJ Heatherly) of Johnson City, TN, Nikki Prasatek of Cassatt, SC, Cody Sheets of Chapin, SC, Lakan Sheets of Huntington, WV; nine great-grandchildren, Zack Combs Jr, Kaitlyn Combs, Kristina Combs, Koen Adams, Kylan, Aden, Nevaeh Sheets, Mya Sheets, Kinsley Sheets; and one great-granddaughter, Adalynn Adams, due in September. Also left to cherish his memory are five sisters, Carol Shrader of Rocky Gap, VA, Barbara Hart of Orlando, FL, Mary Riley (Larry) of Waterford, MI, Brenda Sheaffer (Robert) of Ronks, PA, Pamela Gillette (Joe) of Marietta, GA; two brothers, Richard Adams (Kimberly) of Hurricane, WV, William Adams (Mary) of Bluefield, WV; former spouse and mother of three of his children, Connie Adams Wheeler of Clover, SC; two dear friends, Robert and Jennifer Green of Bluefield, WV; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two of his sisters, Kay Pasion and Janet Starling.
A memorial service will be private. The family would like to extend a special thanks to MUSC Hospice for their special care and attention given to the Adams family.
