Obituary of Lester E. Ray, Sr

Lester Earl Ray, Sr., born on July 23, 1952 in Camden, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026. A lifelong resident of Cassatt, Lester was a proud member of Cassatt Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Carlee and Alliene Ray. 

He was a dedicated father who would do anything in this world for his kids.  He was also a dedicated grandfather who cherished his grandkids  Kali Tomlin (Cassatt) Bre Tomlin (Kershaw) Tripp Ray (Cassatt) and Heather Ray (Ohio)and loved them deeply.  He was a loving husband to his deceased wife Wanda Ray and a loving father to his children Earl Ray Jr “Nucky” (deceased) and Crystal Ray.  His kids and grandkids were his world and he was theirs.  He was a very genuine loving man that would help anybody that he could even if it meant giving his last to do so.  He was all about family and loved his dog Mickey.  He loved working on lawnmowers, helping people and taking care of his family.  Words cannot express how much he will truly be missed by his kids, grandkids, family and friends.  He fought a long hard battle and never once gave up.  His strength and faith was undeniably pure and strong.  We will truly miss him and hold him in our hearts forever.

Lester is also survived by his siblings, Etta Hall, Wanda Baker, Bobbie Jean Hightower, Carl Matthew Ray and Lisa Rollins. In addition to his wife and son, he was predeceased by his brother, Charles Belton Ray, Sr.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 2:00 pm in Cassatt Baptist Church Cemetery, located at 2604 US-1, Cassatt, South Carolina, 29032.
