Obituary of Glenn D. Searcy, Jr

Glenn Searcy, a man whose life was marked by an unwavering devotion to his family, his profession, and his community, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026. Born on December 20, 1935, in Cushing, OK, USA, Glenn moved to Camden, South Carolina, where he built a life rich in love, accomplishment, and service.

Glenn was a graduate of the University of Houston where he earned his bachelor's degree. He went on to have a fulfilling career as a BioMed Engineer at Kershaw Health Medical Center. But Glenn's life wasn't all work. He had a heart full of joy. Every year, he donned the red suit and white beard to bring Christmas cheer to the community as Santa Claus, embodying the spirit of giving and love. He was also a devout member of the Camden First Baptist Church. 

Glenn is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela Davis Searcy; children, Debbie Searcy Mowry of Willis, TX, Kenny Byrd of Camden, and Heather Greenway (Jarrett) of Bethune; and grandchildren, Kayla Mowry, Jessica Caldwell, and Kaleb Roberts. He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Davis Searcy Sr., and his mother, Patty Nabors Searcy; daughter, Carrie Frances Harrison; and brother, Dr. James Robert Searcy.

A service to celebrate Glenn's life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Camden.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
