Obituary of Cathy C. Montgomery
Cathy Chanell Montgomery, born on September 5, 1963, in Camden, South Carolina, was a vibrant soul whose life was a testament to the power of love and family. Her journey on this earth may have ended on July 20, 2026, but the memories of her warm laughter, gentle kindness, and infectious spirit will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her.
Cathy was a beacon of joy and the life of every gathering. Her love for cooking was more than a hobby; it was a way for her to bring people together, to share stories and create unforgettable moments. Her dishes were not just meals, but an expression of love, care, and the sense of community she held so dear. In her free time, Cathy enjoyed the rhythm and melodies of music.
Her family was her world. Survived by her beloved husband, Eddie Montgomery, Jr.,; children, Clarence Martin III of Columbia, Jonathan Wesley Martin of Columbia and Raquel Martin of Camden; step-daughter, Ashley Cleveland; 7 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; siblings, Leroy Bennett (Terri), Charles Bennett, Kerry Bennett, Connie Clark, Gladys Lewis, and Donnell Wood; mother-in-law, Lillie Ann Montgomery; sisters-in-law, Sonia Garrick, Andrea Montgomery, and Lois Robinson; special friend, Velma Brisco; aunts, Geraldine Outten, Catherine Brown (Roy), Sylvia Patterson (Hayward); and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Cathy's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ethel Mae Bennett; and sisters, Benzina Moses and Michelle Jones.
The visitation for Cathy Montgomery will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 4-6 p.m. at the Powers Funeral Home, 832 Ridgeway Road, Lugoff, South Carolina, 29078. The funeral service will take place on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 12:00pm at Powers Funeral Home with burial to follow in High Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
