Carrie Mae Outten, born July 23, 1944 in Bishopville, South Carolina, passed away on June 20, 2026. Carrie’s life was characterized by her warm spirit, love for her family, and dedication to nurturing her home. She spent her years creating a nurturing environment for her family as a homemaker and also for the many children she kept as an in-home child care provider. Carrie, wife of the late John Outten; had a love for crossword puzzles, sewing, decoration, and DIY projects filled her home with joy and beauty, a testament to her creative spirit and industrious nature.


Carrie is survived by her daughters, Angela Hawks, Tamala Dixon; grandchildren, John Hawks (DeCarla Harrison), Caden Dixon; siblings, Lula Simon, Ervin Simon, Bernard Simon (Sharon), Andrew Simon (Deanna); great-grandchild, Tamiya Hawks; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Carrie was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Simon; her mother, Mavenia Spriggs; grandchild, Taylor Robinson; and siblings, Toris Simon, Josh E. Simon, Isaiah Simon, Gloria Snells, Clifford Simon. 


A homegoing service to honor the life of Carrie Outten will be held at Powers Funeral Home, 832 Ridgeway Road, Lugoff, South Carolina, 29078, on Saturday, June 27, 2026, commencing at 11:00 am.
