Nancy Louise Ruby Burt of Camden SC departed this life on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at the MUSC Hospice in Columbia SC.

Nancy was born in Washington DC on Dec 10, 1950. She grew up in Manassas VA and spent her teen years in Swansboro NC. Nancy retired as a VP for Wachovia bank in Greenville NC, and later from the Onslow County School District in Jacksonville NC.

Her joy was spending time with her family and friends. She loved music, photography, and her cats. She played saxophone for several regional and community bands, and her church orchestra. She was a self-taught keyboardist and spent many happy hours playing, singing, and humming. Nancy was a nature photographer traveling to state and national parks throughout her life. She was the designated photographer at her Saunders family reunions where she was the first to arrive and the last to leave.

Nancy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law David and Beth Burt of Cary NC, a sister and brother-in-law Peggy and Fred Ogburn of Camden SC, “adopted” daughter and grandchildren Christine Burt Patterson, Sheridan, Jon Michael, and Aaron of Fletcher NC, and her Saunders and Ruby cousins, extended family and close friends.

Nancy resided at the Legacy of Camden where she spent hours entertaining friends and staff with her 1000-piece puzzles, playing bingo and joining in on outings and devotions. Her family wishes to thank the staff for their love and support of Nancy over the years.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents Herman and Betty (Saunders) Ruby.
